Auvers-sur-Oise, last residence of Van Gogh

Auvers is seriously beautiful, in the heart of the most picturesque and typical countryside, according to Van Gogh. In less than 70 days, he produced more than 80 works of art here! From its world-renowned church - the painting of it can be seen in the Musée d'Orsay - to its castle, Auvers really is like an open-air museum.

Abbaye de Royaumont

This exceptional heritage site is also a venue for exhibitions, concerts, shows and contemporary audio visual installations. As well as the vegetable plot, this Cistercian jewel contains two extraordinary gardens: one is the backdrop for a modern art installation and the other presents a collection of vegetables of medieval origins and was created in order to host exhibitions of plants.

In the footsteps of the painters

Conserved landscapes and historical sites – Daubigny’s house and workshop, Doctor Gachet’s house, the cemetery where Van Gogh lies – all transform Auvers into an open-air museum. The village is dotted with reproductions of grand master paintings, giving a perspective on the landscapes that inspired them.
