Lost in Neo-futuristic garden on the clifftop

Did you know that on the clifftops of Etretat there lies a magical garden? Les Jardins d’Étretat (Etretat Gardens) is a neo-futuristic artistic garden boasting exceptional views over the famous ‘Needle’ rock.

Poetically blending landscape art and land art sculptures, the gardens seem to have been there forever.

It was Madame Thebault, a famous actress of the early twentieth century, and a close friend of Claude Monet, who, inspired by his love for the beautiful gardens, decided to plant the first tree on the virgin territory.

Resolutely Avant-garde, the original spirit of the area has been preserved while providing a poetic dimension.

CAST-AWAY ON TATIHOU ISLAND

Ever dreamed of being utterly alone on a desert island, accompanied only by Mother Nature? Just off the Cotentin peninsula, you will find this magical place – Tatihou Island.

Check out the tide timetable and set out with good shoes. As soon as you arrive you are struck by the unique nature of the place, its seagulls and birds, the exposure to sea winds, the foaming waves all around you. This is nature’s realm – the shriek of gulls and roar of the sea are testiment…

EXPLORE VEULES-LES-ROSES, THE JEWEL OF THE ALABASTER COAST

With its quaint restaurants, idyllic half-timbered cottages, mills along the river, fantastic seaside walks and delicious local oysters, Veules-les-Roses provides the perfect backdrop for a relaxing coastal escape.

Tucked away on the Alabaster Coast, just 12 miles south-west of Dieppe, the picturesque village of Veules-les-Roses is a cluster of typical half-timbered cottages and lots of ancient unspoiled charm. The Veules, which flows through the village, is France’s smallest river. Its water is used in ponds for growing watercress from where it finds its way to the sea through a gap in the high chalk cliffs, which overlook a sand and pebble beach.

Ride on panoranic fenicular in Le Tréport

This funicular in the seaside resort of Le Tréport is the only one of its kind in France and offers breathtaking views from the clifftops. Opened in 1908 and entirely modernized in 2006, Le Tréport’s funicular passes through a tunnel in the local cliffs. It connects the lower part of the town to the upper part, from which you can enjoy breathtaking views.

It only takes two minutes to climb or descend the 155m-long slope, but the journey through the tunnel is an unusual experience, with the 63-degree incline giving you a bird’s-eye view of the town below. Best of all, it’s free to ride!
